Firefighters respond to two home fires
Cocke County firefighters and Cosby Volunteer firemen responded to two home fires on Friday. The first, a two-story log home on the Bogard Road, owned by Warren D. Williams, was reported on fire at 2:26pm. Cocke County Fire Captain Keith Large said the flames were contained initially but fire fighters were called back to the scene just before 6pm, following reports that the home was again burning. Captain Large said the $200,000 blaze is under investigation. At 6:43pm, both fire departments were called to a mobile home on Shady Rest Way in the Edwina community. Captain Large said the owner of the mobile home, Lori Woodson, was not at home at the time of the blaze which heavily damaged the kitchen area. The fire is believed to have started in an electrical short at the microwave. A neighbor spotted smoke coming from a door and notified 911. Loss in the blaze is estimated at $15,000.
