Alleged child rape in Newport is investigated
Newport authorities have been joined by investigators from the Tennessee Department of Children's Services in the investigation of an alleged child rape, reported on Monday. Newport Patrol Officer Ricky Parton said the four year-old female told her mother of the digital penetration which allegedly occurred Sunday morning. The child was examined at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County, however no charges have been filed. Newport Detective Jason Ramsey is assisting in the investigation.
